This 1995 993 cabriolet has 17k miles on it. When travelling along straight line, under lifted accellerator, i first noticed a slight vagueness in the steering. Then realized that the car will tend to pull right on decelleration. When going into corner and attempting to adjust throttle to either bring nose in or out car behaves differently in right v. left hand turn. But this is under reasonably aggressive street driving conditions, and i do not know how or whether this will translate into performance characteristics when pushing to limit, say at a de event. Problem does not occur on braking or acceleration. I have owned the car for two years. According to Carfax search no prior accidents. Tire pressures are good. Tire wear is even. Mostly i have used the car for concourse and tsd rallies, but i am thinking about making required safety upgrades and tracking in de events, but not until i am sure there is not some kind of suspension problem here.

Thom:
From the sounds of things, a REAL good alignment ought to restore order and proper handling to your 993. Assuming for the moment that your shocks are in perfect working order, it sounds like an alignment issue.
These cars do not suffer fools in the alignment department and they are VERY sensitive about settings. I'd guess that your rear kinematic toe settings are wrong and you need to find an experienced, qualified and competant person to realign the car.
Make certain that they have the Factory kinematic toe tool as hand and know how to use it.
Good luck!

You were right! I just got my car back and the alignment did the trick. Thanks for the tip. By the way, in case anyone is interested in a competent shop, i was very pleased with the work performed by Autotechnik in Pennington NJ.
