I lost my username and had to start over. You're always having to start over or restart or something. Hey CFR - any 200+ runs lately?

Happy New Year To All My Friends On This Board! Greg: major bummer losing your data.Welcome newbie! EJ: Ruf is on trailer heading for Carl's Place in Las Vegas for a major chassis check, new rotors and the usual fluids & filters replacement. Also dumping the Pagid Yellow pads I have been running! As usual Ruf has been superb in his support. Also many thanks to Steve Beddor for his maintainence schedule on the Yellow Bird! After 75 runs above 200 mph it is time for a big time chassis component check! I am sorry to say my navigator son has retired from open road racing and my plans for the 2003 season are not too clear right now. Silver State road is a bit scary because of it's condition! MKM has an awesome schedule this year with one very special event at the Las Vegas big oval! Check out openroadracing.com for information. The LV event is perfect for guys like you. I can offer a substantial discount for all Porsche drivers interested in participating in the MKM ( formerly Roger Ward's CARS) events! Anyone interested in participating as a "course worker" may contact me for a special assignment. CFR PS: new e-mail address is rolandroth@mac.com

PS: new e-mail address is rolandroth@mac.com Cool! But, why did you go with a Mac? Does this mean AOHELL is no more? ;D

Hi Viken, Bought dual Mac last year to edit race movies. Replaced laptop with new 17" IMac and love them both. Installed high speed network at home which forced wife to migrate to Earthlink so we finally dumped AOHELL! Any one thinking about broad band cable for home use should read this: Keep in mind my cable provider is Time Warner so any service I chose comes in via the Time Warner cable! Here are the choices for any Time Warner cable user!
1) AOL= $59.00 + two AOL ISP accounts = $109.00/month
2) Road Runner = $59.00/month, single user only!
3) Earthlink = $41.95/month! Free modem & installation! That's it! I then legally installed a router and have multiple users online! Home cable is way faster than office DSL! Go figure! R

I have known of him for years, when I was doing Audi stuff in college with my Coupe Quattro Turbo, he and his family was supporitng the quattro club with their two sport models. Then I saw him and his car as pictured above at a DE at LMS where I used to work - nice guy. So is that your car or do you still campaign the black one? Good luck with whatever racing you do this year. You ought to convice DJ and Mark to run their Great Britain Street legal Radical's in an open race this year - that would be cool. As for me - thats a long way for me to go. www.pcarracing.homestead.com/radical1.htmlE. J.

It strikes me as funny that such a breathtaking, over-the-top car like that yellow Ruf would have its numbers scribbled on the glass like a first-day DE newbie! ;D
Speaking of 'hey, hey, the gang's all here' -- anyone seen Robin lately? He's really MIA. Hopefully it's just work keeping him busy (and out of sorts in temporary Miami quarters).

Hello to all. Hopefully, eventually all of the "regulars" will see and read my post. I sincerely apologize for the "Indylaw/Whirlwind debacle" on Rennlist several months ago. I did in fact go overboard, and am sorry for having done so. I have previously apologized directly to several people, including John D. and Greg Fishman. I will not defend my outbursts, but ask that people note that but for a 15 minute flame-out, I was always polite and curteous in the months prior to, and have been quiet/polite in the months subsequent to my momentary lapse of reason. Specific apologies to: E.J., Viken, Greg Fishman, Hendriksen (sorry if I spelled that wrong), and Rick Fairweather, and any others I can't specifically think of at the moment. I didn't mean to cause such hard feelings amongst any of you, or any of your friends. I apologize for insulting a great leader and contributor, Viken Bedrossian. Here's some explanation for you about the infamous posts: The four "blank posts" at the end? Well, I tried editing a post, and kept hitting the wrong key. By the time I hit refresh I realized that I wasn't "editing" but rather just submitting new blank posts. I finally got frustrated with the board software/myself/the situation, and deleted my attempt at an apology. I then changed my ID to "whirlwind" (symbolizing the whirlwind of the stupid moment - yes MY stupid moment) and plugged in a fake e-mail address. As such, I could no longer access Rennlist to make further follow-up posts. Again - I am sincerely sorry, and hope that this display of retribution will ultimately be noticed. Rick: I'm sorry to have amused you. I'm not sure my quote was exactly as you put it, but it's probably close. I did spend three hours pouring over the car, and then had an inspection done immediately upon getting the car home. I should have followed you sage advice of course, but I guess I got lucky. I don't need a clutch (or anything else thankfully), but your comments about clutch life had me a little paranoid. Once I do need a new one, Carnewal it is! I apparently came across as arrogant to you by my comments in person, so for that I apologize. I was only guilty of overexuberance in finally getting a 993. Is that so wrong? I am sorry.

" Why even bother anymore. There are plenty of other places to hang out. The quality over there has hit rock bottom. To be honest, I don't blame Viken for leaving the 993 board (he really has), it is now just a bunch of amateurs posing as experts"
Ummm is'nt that the whole internet? It's an entertaining tool and it can be very helpful technically but message boards and chat rooms are many times filled with "wannabees" Everyone tends to be wealthy and good looking too. It is entertaining.

Hey Robert, Why even bother anymore. There are plenty of other places to hang out. The quality over there has hit rock bottom. To be honest, I don't blame Viken for leaving the 993 board (he really has), it is now just a bunch of amateurs posing as experts. E. J. EJ, don't we have to start somewhere? I am not a so-called expert but am certainly not an amateur poser. In my limited Porsche ownership, I have learned a tremendous amount of info from Rennlist and P-car.com. When I do post, it is either with the knowledge I have gathered first hand, read in magazines or read on the boards. Again, I am not an expert but I imagine feeling like many of you experts must have felt in the early days of the board when you would answer the same questions over and over to newbies. There will always be newbies coming in...some will leave, others will become experts and most will continue to be members. I have personally received much needed advice from Viken and many others and feel it would be a shame if the gurus, the experts and the fanatics that you all are were to leave the board. I just found out about this forum and surprised to see most of the guys from whom I learned anything I know about Porsches are here. Just a word to tell you guys that for some people reading through your advise on a daily basis, it is much more than a tremendous learning. In my personal case, living now in a country that has absolutely nothing to offer but (some) money, Rennlist is a part of my daily life, and my only contact to your civilization where I did my studies. I bought my 1st. Porsche after reading through the forum, now I it has become my only passion besides my wife and kids. It is like knowing many of you from thousands of miles away without having ever met. Just go back there (and here)and continue your valuable contributions, while bearing with our sometimes ridiculous newbie questions. One day I hope I might bring some value added as well. Viken, Greg, Robin, E.J. just to name a few, we appreciate your opinions. Enough said, I need a drink now (oh s***t no alcohol here!)

Hey Jean, don't recognize you since you didn't include your location. Oh well. I can only speak for myself. I sold my 993 about 6 months ago to make room for our first kid. I am now racing SCCA cars and probably wont have another 911 for a while. Its not that I don't love the cars, for me its that driving one on the road just isn't that much fun anymore. Especially after racing real race cars. Even DEs in the 993 dont begin to compare.
But I will be hanging around some places including Rennlist and here. But be warned that this board is checked very infrequently by the majority of us old timers.
Anyway, the beauty of the internet is that you can use email to ask specific question sof peopel whom you know are experts on any number of subjects. I wish I had a dollar for every private email question I sent Viken in the beginning - I was too nervous to post on the 993 board.
Anyway, it seems there are now new experts on the 993 board who have picked up the torch. You should still get some good advice there, just be warned that there is also LOTS of bad advice and wrong answers as the membership increases. Be careful what advice you follow.
Good luck,
E. J.

E.J. Most probably you don't recognize me but I do, as you have given me advise in the past. ;D I also know your story and how you sold that car to FF, the parts/mods VP in HWFM racing . I am an expat in Saudi Arabia now, does that explain it? A lot of boredom and free time for daily Rennlist browsing, which ended up making me buy a 993. BTW Robin, sorry I ( TEXT) never ordered that RSR muffler at the end as I switched to a 993TT. Keep it going guys and thanks for all your advise. Jean
