I am thinking about adding an amplifier to the Kenwood deck in this car to drive the rear speakers so as to free up the deck power for the front. There is just no depth to the system running 4 speakers with 25 watt RMS into 4 at 4 ohms. Did this number on on my '78 SC worked great but it had no electrics. Question 1. Will an amp that is 2.5" high 9" long and 8 wide fit under the pass seat with the electric motor, seat being in full down and full back position? It looks like there is plenty of room 2. Once the deck is slid out of dash can the RCAs to the amp be run behind and under the dash (interior side not trunk side, interior side looks like it is sealed) and down the foot board and under the carpet to the seat? 3. Where do the OEM wires to the rear speaker run coming down from the back speaker deck? along tunnel? or down the left or right side?
The Kenwood deck fits the dash like a glove so I am assuming it is in the OEM shroud. I just bought this car in Nov and am learning about it piece by piece.
Thank in advance Paul Teske

Paul, The only way to find out if you have enough room is to put the amp there and try it out. You can measure it all day long but nothing beats trying it out physically. You can run the RCAs through the center tunnel, there are plenty of room to run the wires through there and down to the seats. Check out the DIY section of p-car.com under "Shifter and brake lever DIY" for instructions on how to remove the center console. The Porsche factory radio spacing is considered a "DIN" chasis, that's why the Kenwood unit fits perfectly, as most of the head units in the market today at "DIN" sized. I am not sure where the rear deck speakers runs to, I do know that you can locate them under the passenger seat for cars with the HI- Fi option, since that's where the factory AMP is located at. Good luck. Robin

The rear speaker wires will definately run towards your kenwood deck. So what you should do is buy some speaker wires and extend them from behind the deck unit through the center console to your kenwood amp. Then take Robin's advice on the RCA part for the signal to get to the amp (hopefully your deck has the RCA output). While doing the speaker wires, don't forget to pull an extra wire for the amp turn on/off signal. Finally, you will need to pull a thick wire from the battery to your amp. Have fun.. Wes
