I am thinking of buying a 1994 993 cab european model. The engine seems to have the same power as the US 1995 version. Are there any differences between the European 993 and the US 993? Thanks.

I have a '97 C4S US spec but live in Stuttgart so see both US and Euro spec 993s daily. Outwardly the European 993 has turn signals on the front fenders, none on US model. The US model adds small bumperettes on the front end and larger ones on either side of the license plate with a metal superstructure underneath to meet US bumper 5 mph standards. There is also a slight difference in ride height, the European models are lower by about an inch. I don't believe there are any engine differences, but there may be catalytic and door reinforcement differences. Check with EPA and DOT if you're thinking about buying a EURO Spec car and importing it--the bill can be significant. A friend brought back a 928 back in '84 and it cost $10K to meet specs! One of the best books out there with really good detail is Porsche 911 Story by Paul Frere. ISBN 1-85260-502-2 I bought my copy in '95, 5th edition--I'm sure the latest edition has the complete 993 evolution and into the 996. Hope this helps Chip McCoy

I both have an american model as well as a europeen, both 993 4S. I think the greatest difference is the gear-box.
The american gear-box has a longer gearing. The result beeing the europeen version is much more sporting to drive and faster in speeding. The american model is much an american "limmo" due to higher ride hight. I think they are quite different cars as far as driving is concerned. To p-loving friends in US : - change gearbox and lower the car, thats is the only way to really experince what a great car Porsche is.
