Hi, Newby here. Bought my first 911 3 weeks ago. Only 25M miles. Great board. I really like the DIY section! I have a 95 cabrio that has locking diff and the braking stability system. The car also has the turbo 18" wheels with Pirelli Rosso's (285/30 rear) and a H&R trick suspention. If I dump the clutch at 4000, the right rear wheel hops like mad. What's up? I do my own wrenching and have an above average understanding of motor vehicles. Help!

Anyone care to comment? Do you need more information? I'm new to Porsche and the forums associated with the brand, so I apologize if I come across as eager........... Orc

Well. I have a theory, and I would appreciate if anyone can corroborate.
I have the braking stability system (the one that works to avoid the tail from swinging out at under 70 kph by selectively applying the brakes to straighten the car out).
I believe that under certain circumstances, you may activate this mode if you drop the hammer at 4 thou in first. So the computer brakes the wheel, which makes it hop. But I am no expert on these systems. I do know of some cars were you can switch it off.
Anyone care to comment?

I had a 96 993 with PSM, and it didn't hop. Your answer may bring you to your differential. If the previous owner paid so much for his suspension, there's a chance he shelled out $2K for a racing differential. These units have selectable locking characteristics.

I don't think your PSM would cause wheel hop. Either your rear shocks are shot or your tire pressure is too high.
