Hi New to the club, picked up my 96 C4s last November (40k miles), after the first 500 miles started to get wheel hopping from the rear, turned out to be the tread indicators (stuck new Pilot Sports all around), then started to notice wheel wobble from the front at 45 and 85mph, had the wheels rebalanced at a cheap tire shop, problem still remained. Found a great shop up here in Sacramento who put the problem down to the front drivers side Wheel Bearing. They changed the bearing, balanced all wheels on the Hunter and Alligned the car for $500, third of the cost of the dealer, car now feels like its on tracks - Great
Questions is: what should the life of an avg wheel bearing be and whats the recommended intervals for wheel allignment? thx

I'm not sure what the wheel bearing life is but I have just put new Michelin Pilot sports on my 993 Twin Turbo.....Since then I have experienced a wobble in the front end. The wobble comes intermittantly and even will show up when just downshifting to third or second gear. Sometimes it is so violent the wheel will shake 1/2" I just thought the tire shop over torqued the wheel and warped a rotor (I can feel a pulsatation while braking, on occaision) Now after discussions with the Porsche shop we will be looking at bearings and tire pressures. I have been told that to high a pressure in the front tires will do strange things. Any other suggestions here would be appreciated. In reguard to wheel bearing life I have put over 125000 miles on the wheel bearings of my 1994 3/4 ton diesel suburban all of which have been hard towing miles, I have never even greased or repacked them yet. I have done 10,000 miles of severe off road driving and rock crawling with 35" tires on my jeep CJ water logged and full of dirt I have never had one fail, I dont know what tells a bearing its time to die?
