Picked up my 1998 993 Cabriolet after cleaning out the garage of a 1991 C2 964 and a 2000 Corvette M. Yellow Coupe. So now I have a new factory spec Cab and finding it difficult to find upgrade parts, mods, and other owners with whom to discuss and get ideas for my Cabs future. I would appreciate any sourcing recommendations or other ideas offered.

What exactly do you wish to do to your '98 993 Cabriolet?

Thanks for the interest! I would like to upgrade to a wide body turbo look with the air ports in the rear fender panels as a start. Also want to put a rear spoiler that will do more than just hold the rear stop light as it is nowl I also need to do something with the interior. I am kicking myself for getting a triptronic because I have always had a 5-6 speed, and now I feel like the slight lag between gear changes has taken away some of the control of the vehicle. Be that as it may, I have to do something with that shift knob and hand brake. Next to the steering wheel, they are the things that you see, grab and handle the most and it is like taking hold of a soft chubby gal rather than one built for performance if you will pardon the anology! The "Dark Rootwood" knob offered by porsche is a bit like decorating the inside of a Lexus and not a performance machine. I have checked out the Techart stuff from the guys down in Flordia and their prices are bordering on insanity! There just has to be a better way. So there you have it!

Well, looks like you have chosen upgrades that are not cheap. In fact, a widebody conversion may cost you several thousands. As to factory enhancements, check with www.carnewal.com . Good luck!

I have a 96 Cab that has been taken so far from stock it may not be a 993 anymore. Some of the enhancements were done before I got the car, most were cosmetic *Complete carbon fiber interior, from Porsche(very expensive) This package can be purchaced aftermarket but still not cheap *Wheels are always a good start, stick with 17's as the rubber is cheaper *Big Red Brakes (I track the car a lot) I had a track mishap and also thought of going with the Turbo body, Gert at www.carnewal.com quoted me around 6K for all factory parts needed to convert to turbo body (less rear wing and front bumper as I have a Techart front and rear on the car now) If you wanted to get into performance upgrades the list is endless Roll bar for track use (I have a DAS bar that looks great) Sport seats from Recaro, Sparco ect Shocks from Bilstien (PSS9's),H&R or Porsche's own ROW package, lowering springs from Eibach which should only be done with new shocks. RS or Weltimeister Sway bars to reduce body roll. Upgrade your clutch fly wheel to a lightweight flywheel and RS clutch Of course the grand daddy of them all a super charger kit from TPC (Turbo Performance Center) to give you a extra 100hp. As you can see, there are many things and huge $$$ you can spend to tweak your car it just depends on what you want to do with it. I almost forgot, look at the sponsor of this boards RSR muffler, this is the one of the best upgrades you can do for very little money. They sound fantastic, the best 350.00 I've spent on the car. For more info, go over to Rennlist.com and lurk around to see what other people have done/are doing Regards, Eric

Has anyone on this discussion board got, had, using a supercharger, because I'm interested in power gains, durability and ease of fitting. Oh yes and not forgeting prices! anyone??
